Here are three simple steps you can take to make your content clear, orderly, neat and easy to read.

1. Make your bog posts scan-able by using headings, subheadings, bullets and lists.
The easiest to read sites are those that break content down into an outline type format with headings  and subheadings that clearly define each topic. Keep your thoughts in concise chunks that are easily digestible. Each paragraph should present one topic or thought in 3-5 sentences.

2. Keep paragraphs and sentences small and use white space.
Take a look at the New York Times, Salon or Slate and you can see how they put white space between each paragraph of text.  Unless you’re writing fiction it’s best to put some white space between paragraphs. It just makes it easier to view.

3. Move from the broad and general message to detailed information.
There’s an old saying in the newspaper business called, “Don’t bury the lead.” Get your visitors attention as fast as you can by keeping the most interesting part of the post at the beginning. Once you’ve decided on a keyword or keyword phrase for a title it should be repeated at least once in the content of the page or post.

Be careful not to overuse a keyword in the titles or content. Use variations instead.

If you decided “dog trainer” was one of your keyword phrases you would want to use that specific phrase on only one page title. You could repeat it throughout your site, but don’t over do it.
